Eighteen people from all over Australia along for this week, exploring the tracks, lagoon and seas. Half days on the shorter tracks and a day walk to Boat Harbour “ As we set out the two great massifs of Lidgbird and Gower loomed over us but disappeared immediately as we entered the green light and shadow of the subtropical forest- huge buttress roots of the Scaleybark tees dominated and overhead their canopy did the same. After two hours we emerged onto Boat Harbour Beach, with two pristine babbling creeks which were important resources for visiting whaling ships in the past” A most enjoyable week discovering the island’s many endemic plants, the breeding seabirds and pristine marine life; and enjoying the island restaurants at night.
