Maulwood platter (small)

27cm diameter.
Maulwood – Olea paniculatea.
A tall native tree growing across the lowlands of Lord Howe Island. The timber is very hard, and the early settlers used this timber to make their “maul” – a wooden mallet to hammer fence posts into the ground.
